Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church is associated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), the third largest Lutheran church body in America.
With its current headquarters and historical origins beginning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1850), the WELS has moved beyond its upper-midwest base and now has congregations in all 50 states. It also carries out mission work in over 18 foreign countries and has ties to confessional Lutheran churches around the world.
Emmanuel congregation dates to 1975. Its present membership comes from the Owatonna area and surrounding communities. Rev. Thomas J. Smith presently serves as pastor.
The focus of the congregation is family ministry, offering a well-rounded program of worship, spiritual growth, and Christian fellowship to individuals and families as they are variously composed (two-parent, single-parent, or blended).
As a Christian congregation Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church exists to share with people everywhere the message of Jesus Christ, the world's only Savior from sin, and to encourage those who hear and believe this gospel to live their faith daily in all their relationships.
